She meets me at work and at home during the dreams. I never see my family during these encounters though. We don't even live close to each other.
No recent letters or anything. Just out of the blue.

Maybe you're stressed over the demands from work and home and she represents a time period for you when things were less complicated.

unresolved issues? maybe something did happen to her.
over ten years ago i dreamed that my ex died in a car crash and his father died the next day from a stroke.
years later i learned his dad did in fact have a stroke. no word on the ex though and i really didn't want to know.
