I truly do not have an answer. But there are plants that take many years to grow and to bloom and are very rare and exceptional in one way or another.
I know a Night Blooming Cerus is very unusual and takes many years to grow , they have a fabulous bloom that only blooms at late night and a few times a year.

I've heard there's an orchid that only grow in the canopy of the rainforest and blooms once a year. I'd imagine that would be pretty expensive. That and coca (where cocaine comes from).

My guess would be a fully grown tree that you would buy to landscape your yard. Some of them are huge and just having them delivered would cost.

canary palms aren't TOO expensive if they aren't grown, but they grow very slowly. they take YEARS to reach full maturity. so, they're worth approx $1000 per foot of height. ie: a 4 foot canary palm = $4000.00.
sounds pretty steep to me! there's probably something exotic that's more expensive.
