Write the first letter of each of these words across the page:
"Kitchen Helpers Don't Gulp Delicious Cookie Mix."
You will get "K H D G D C M," which stands for Kilograms, Hectagrams, Decagrams, Grams, Decigrams, Centigrams, and Miligrams.
Put 5 in the K column, and 8 in the H column. Then, put zeros in all other columns, through Grams (G), which you're trying to find. You get 5800 grams.

Metric is cool because its so easy! Since kilo means 1,000, you know that there are 1,000 grams in a kilogram. So all you have to do is multiply by 1,000. 5.8 x 1,000= 5,800 grams!
The U.S. should really switch over.
