i've noticed that some girls have a permenent scowl on their face. is this something that they cannot help?

Western culture encourages women to smile a LOT. Infact, women are encouraged to be very expressive with their facial features. Meanwhile, the gender code encourages men to be reserved, not to smile as much. Mind you, gender is changing (as it happens to do over time) and so ya might not notice it so much but some guys really are still very reserved and don't walk around all day smiling. You will probably more often notice when a woman isn't smiling rather than a man because the gender code says that women aught to smile more often because they are supposedly the "soft, gentle, nurturing" gender.

Yeah you're right... they are havin' that "time of the month"! Kidding.
Frankly, I think they must have had a really long day & a bad one at that. How else you expect a person to react?
It could be exhaustion/ issues, etc. Who knows? Also, I think it's a kind of safety measure.
If you appear too bubbly, people are gonna start to think you're nuts or something and guys think you're easy or whatever, so there's really no way around it.

They probably have alot of things on their mind and do not realize
the angry look is coming out on their faces. Sometimes a person
is thinking of something bad or nasty that took place earlier in the
day .

Ha thats me! People always tll me to smile and say they first time they met me they thought i was a b*tch.
I'm really shy and just don't smile and I have a tough expression if im focused or shy.
I try to smile and be outgoing but its really subconcious.
I should ask how not to!
