England Governs, it is not governed. you would sell the union as a failed neccesity, and i pity you, for all you see is opression. ruled from whitehall..
what everyone fails to recognise, is youre happy enought to be supported by whitehall when the time suits you. who is going to pay? will you raise your own taxes to support your people suckled on teh fat dripping teat of Englands bounty. or will they face deprivision beyoned endurance as youre overstretched economies fail under teh strain.
together, we have a chance, divided, were doing teh terrorists job for them. singularly we are weak and have no representation, together, we are unstoppable. together were the 4th richest country in the world. what are we without our sovereign status... what are you without the protection of the crown, an easy target for the russian mafia and mass corruption...

They have their own assemblies but not full blown parliaments except Scotland. Scotland could potentially be self-sufficient. Wales is still technically part of England, most laws passed are applicable to both countries. Obviously you have a problem with the other countries in the union - I don't really know why. We're all too small to go it alone. We have to share an island, we may as well get along.
Scoob: Wales IS part of England, I did say 'technically' it's a principality. I'm a politics student.

I'm British and for what it's worth we all know that England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales don't like each other -it's been going on for centuries. We buy holiday homes in Wales, that the Welsh burn down without realizing it's one of their main sources of income (tourism), the Irish just want to bomb us and the Scots think all we want is the oil!! Aren't there enough problems in the world without debating this - it won't happen. It's like Quebec wanting to separate from the rest of Canada so we need a passport to get into the middle of the country!!

It's unlikely England could afford to lose the income these three countries generate as they donate billions into a small part of south east England and it's nonsense to suggest they get more out of it than they put in, anyway you can relax Scotland will go for full independence in the next 15/20 years and most probably be a republic shortly after

I think the people of England should be more represented, like having their own 'English Assembly' perhaps. But I like the Union. At least it's given us a great flag!

They've all been wanting that for years, we should leave them alone to create their socialist paradises and impose strict immigration laws on them entering England which I pray would be reciprocal. I don't have a problem never visiting Wales, Scotland or NI ever again..

Good idea- lets set them adrift into the sea and find out how long they last without all the money generated in england thru taxes. Then we'll see who needs who. Also, we could stem the growing tide of ginger creeping into the english gene pool.

England won't do that. It is now a matter of pride to keep them. The only way it would happen is if the EU made them or Scotland, Ireland, and Wales rebeled and won.

THE OTHER WAY AROUND !!! as a Scot i'd love to see how they get on without our , yes ,our oil and all the other industries like Scotch whiskey ( a few billion a year in taxes to westminster parlaiment alone ) add to that the tax on one of the worlds bigest profit making banks taxes - the royal bank of Scotland . And don't forget it was a Scotsman who founded the Bank of England - so there . True but tongue in cheek .but who invented the television ? , the telephone , tar-mac kilts ( well maybe ) , dunlop tyres , football , golf, och the list goes on . but hey lets keep this fun eh?

I think it is the other way round. The rest of Britain should cast England adrift. They are a burden around our neck. Consuming the greatest proportion of our produce and wealth. Not to mention causing wars all over the place.
