where does the great lakes get its water from, if it flows toward the saint larwance sea way.

The snow melting in Canada, and the Midwest states drain into the great lakes. Also many Canadian rivers and some in the US flow into the Great Lakes. The Fox River in Wisconsin flows into Lake Michigan.

There is an enormous network of rivers and tributaries that flow into the great lakes. Since the rainfall levels of the north center part of the continent are fairly good, there is almost always a generous supply of water for the lakes. Some of the geology indicates, however, that they haven't always been full, just in recent historical knowledge.
