I hope you made note of the mini lecture above and will stop being so silly. Life is too fun, we must have more serious, humorless discussions about global warming, social security, mad cow disease and the recent outbreak of E Coli. What's wrong with you!
If I burn the candle at both ends soon there will be no more candle at all. Then I will have to sit around in the dark...or resort to getting out the midnight oil to burn. I'll just burn the midnight oil right from the get go, then off to bed when I've had enough, and the candle won't even be necessary.

Those are two different concepts that have nothing to do with the other.
"Burn the midnight oil", to study or work late at night.
"Burn the candle at both ends", to use up one's strength and resources rapidly.
