This is an area that is changing in most states. I think that most school disitricts require some type of exam and at least a high school diploma and some college. These requirements will vary state to state and district to district.

In the Philippines there's no such thing as teacher assistant in public school only in private school. Some private schools requires to have a degree either in Psychology, Guidance and Counselling or any related course in Education.

Not in AZ. If you don't have a degree then you are required to pass the paraprofessional exam.
