A lot of people are starting to believe in scientology. What happened to the hell fire and brimstone preachers that were around back in the day when we had bush arbors and week long revivals? Don't you think this world is in the condition we are in now because we have forgotten about GOD and what he can do for us (or to us)?

All one would need to do is open the eyes of his mind and take a good look around. What could be possibly be wrong with believing in a creator. Why would anyone hate Him??? I go by the countryside and see the work of His hands, and know He gave it all to me. I believe people have issues with mankind, but to take it up with God, thats not wise at all. Its like me trying to tell you why you put the sun where it is.

This is what's so facinating about human beings. You look at the world around you and think its problems are due to people forgetting about God, while I think that lots of our problems stem from people's belief in God!
First of all, I don't think Scientology is really gathering that many members. It's like all religions, and generally rely on two things: 1) people being born into it, and brainwashed or 2) taking advantage of people who are not too bright. Scientology, more so than most religions, appeals to actors and people who have much more ambition than brains, and people who don't have a good sense of who they really are. But that is neither here nor there...
But why is religion going to solve our problems? Look at our world. The people who flew those planes into those buildings? They were BELIEVERS. They thought that God was on their side. Bush, an ignorant, arrogant man, starts this never-ending war in Iraq, he said that he didn't ask anybody's advice, because he only listens to the Man Upstairs. It seems like the people spouting the most hatred & intollerance are the most religious.
What we need right now is kindness & tolerance, and logic & reason. That is what the world needs. How can we solve the problems facing us in the world without THINKING logically & reasonably? Religion has been the root of much of the evil in human history -- in fact, it's the cause of much of today's problems, not the solution!
(Try to comprehend this: as silly as you view Scientology (and it is VERY SILLY) that is how silly I view all religions! It's true. Try to keep that in mind when dealing with secular, liberal humanits like myself the next time you're on one of the Coasts!)

Scientology is rubbish. But there again so are most Religions. I think there may be a God but if there is, and if he cares, he must be really bemused at the goings on on earth. Maybe it really is like in South Park that earth is just a reality show put on for the enjoyment of some out of this world audience.

No, unless there's proof, its just primitive man's way of explaining the unknown. Don't get me started with how organized religion has brought death and misery to untold millions down through the ages.

In the movie “The Gods Must Be Crazy,” a native in the Kalahari Desert encounters technology for the first time--in the shape of a Coke bottle. I found this to be very amusing, but I also began to see parallels between his thought process, and that of the modern day Theist. Both are using CAVEMAN LOGIC to explain their world. I fail to see the difference between “hmm, bottle fall from sky, must be gods” and “hmm, trees, butterflies and sunsets prove the existence of god.”

In both of these cases, someone is simply replacing one unknown for another unknown, but proving nothing!

Not only can God not be proven, but I will also go so far as to say that God can be disproved. It is impossible for something to be all knowing and all good. If you are aware that something bad is going to happen, and you allow it to happen anyway, then you cannot be all good. If God created everything, then he also created evil. It is also impossible to be all-powerful; can God create a rock that even he himself cannot move?

No, I think this world is in this condition because we abused the sources from nature. Evil and sin has been around since the ages that God "spoke" to humans. If people were sinning during a time that God actually spoke to people, why would we sin less in an age that God abandoned us in and left us with nothing more than blind faith, and hope for his return.

ummm.... according to a recent poll about 90% of americans believe in some sort of higher power. if anyone wants to complain about the condition of this country i'd say that it's the result of an overabundance of religion, not a deficiency. having said that i would like to add that i believe that it's possible that a god could exist. however, the religious texts of just about every religion (including christianity) are so full of contradictions that it's impossible to determine what god's will might be just by reading them. so although a god(s) could exist, i also believe that there is no way to tell what he could possibly want us to do.

Personally I don't believe in God or Scientology or Muslim or Buddhism or anything. I think that if there really is a god up there, he's either unaware of us, or just doesn't care about us because he's preoccupied with his own dealings. I think of it like bacteria. We have bacteria all over us, we know it's there, and if we don't take care of ourselves in such a way, then good bacteria can die, bad bacteria can prosper, and visa verse. When we die, so does our bacteria and if we choose, we can clean our faces with antibacterial soap and kill off some here and there in other ways. So in a way, we're the god of our bacteria. Maybe we're just the bacteria on gods sweaty back.

The Question is where is GOD? The word GOD, is it make up by human in the past, or is it people in the past mistaken some other being as GOD. Why is GOD in all form????
Monkey look alike also as GOD in some Religion??? so what kind of being is GOD???
Bible and Koran don't explain a lot of where GOD is??? Buddhism only explain in the good teaching of Buddha not expressing Buddha is GOD, but he is the enlighten one.... so if a human who are enlighten do we acknowledge them as GOD???? So the best thing is if there is really GOD, GOD should show himself or herself to us.... Maybe GOD is Alien to us.

I believe in the Catholic God, but I don't think people have forgotten about God. It just seems that way because we are caught up in science.

With the Apocalypse and "end times" prophesized by the Bible, I wonder if God believes in us. Christianity is definitely a pessimistic religion as far as humanity's existence on earth is concerned.

If we are made in his image and if we are doomed to fail, is his image perfection?
