Neutral colors are black , gray, browns, tans, army greens, beige, and go with just about any other color you put them with. That way whatever else you are wearing becomes the focal point of your outfit. Lets say you wore khaki pants and a brightly colored shirt; people are going to notice your shirt first because your pants are neutral. (denim blue jeans are also in the neutral dept.) You can wear neutral colors together but make sure that they are in the same color family(like brown pants with a beige shirt, gray pants with a black or white shirt).

In my opinion, nuetral colors would be "Earth" tones. Like Beige, Gray, Browns, Taupe etc. Some "muted" shades could also be considered nuetral as well; for example: red, orange, yellow and even some blues. However, those colors are considered normally "non-nuetral" colors. XOXO Moon

Neutral colors are brown and tans- some grays. One reason they probably had a fit over it is because Gray is sort of like Black, and Tan is sort of like Brown and one of the most disputed "fashion rules" is whether or not Black and Brown match. BTW: fashion rules don't matter- as long as you look good.

For casual wear, try a dark wash jean and an orange or green shirt.
When you dress up, you can use your nuetral pants (make sure they fit; meaning that they are not super tight, or short, or too baggy!)And an plain color shirt with a nice tie viberant tie. You can even use bright color shirts--like green-- with a tie that has the same color green in it.
Go to a store and go shopping...and try things on! A sales associate can help you.

Grays don't look good with a neutural color. Neuturals are brown, tan, and sometimes maroon. Try a navy blue next time. :)
