Is there a chat room option in the Mac based YM ?

I've never done the chat room on either Windows or Mac, but maybe this is what you're looking for?

In the menu bar "Conversation" to "New Conference"

Looks like this allows you to initiate a chat room.

Hi there...sadly no, there's not option to do this for this version at this time.
