7x+19 = -2x+55
7x+19+2x = -2x+55 +2x (add 2x to each side)
9x+19 = 55
9x+19 - 19 = 55 -19 (subtract 19 from each side)
9x = 36
9x/9 = 36/9 (divide each side by 9)
x=4

general rule of thumb is put all the unknowns on one side, and knowns on the other side.
Here we have, 7x + 19 = -2x +55
= 7x+2X = 55-19
9x = 36
x = 36/9 = 4
x = 4

you add 2 to the 7x (becuz you change it to a positive)then you will have 9x+19=55...then you subtract 19 from 55 making it 36
so 9x=36 you then divide 36 by 9...
x=4

-hope this helps

subtract 19 from +19 and +55 add -2 and +36 and you get +34, divide 7 by 34, leave as fraction. there is x. remember always do the opposite. what you do to one side do to the other. hope this helps.
