Nothing trite (over used) or girlie.

How about the Meryl Streep character in "The Devil Wears Prada". Dress up as a business woman.

Girl pirate is cute, its in syle right now, get some hoop or clunky earings, and put on red lipstick and mascara,, otherwise, use a guy's costume.. Animals, vegetables, and fruit are allways cute. Be a bunny, or a pumpkin, or a bee, or a panda, or a carrot.
Scary is good, be Carrie, in a long blue gown and blood all over. Be a female vampire, or a witch,or a famous villan, Like Cruella Deville{carry a stuffed spotted dog with you]. Storybook characters are good, be little bo peep, or little red riding hood.
Good luck. If I had to pick a favorite costume, it would be the witch, I had a broom with purple straw in it, and nobody knew who I was under the big hat and mask.. The other one was Mom made me a red ballgown, with a fur, and a net hair wrap. I loved it, and I wasn't a girly type girl, either. I was Martha Washington one year.
Hey, have Mom make your costume! Ha, gottcha Mom. Take her to the fabric store, and pick out a pattern, some are easy sew patterns, some are not.

Fiona the Human, blended with Ciel Phantomhive, i'm gonna have Ciel's hair and eypatch, with the clothing of Fiona. i realize it sounds stupid, yet i choose to be the two Ciel and Fiona, so im merely mixing it up. Plus, I did order a Ciel dress, it is not gonna deliver till next week. (and it rather is coming from Hong Kong)

Hmm. Do you like sports heroes like Mia Hamm or Michelle Wie? You could dress up like one of them.

Another option is to pick a fun career and dress like you're going to work. Maybe like a pilot or detective.
