I get questions like this all the time . The most usual thing it turns out to be is a sattelite . The solar panels give off shades of color according to what hue the panes are made from . If it was blue it will look blue . If it it multicolor, as in most sattelites .. The light will appear blinking different colors. If there is alot of wind a star will look like you described along with atmospheric turbulence. Only about 50% chance of wind . Also if there are high atmospheric winds, looking thru a glass as you did in your sunroom will add to that . That actually scatters light .
I did some research in our observatory records and it was seen here too . It was the star Vega.
There was alot of atmospheric turbulence the night you said you saw it from solar wind. It has been building up and this week we are on high solar wind alert. Don't be shy about asking any questions .. sometimes you learn the neatest stuff from answers ; )

I have an inexpensive halogen floodlight that is so bright that I can get it to shine on the clouds. If there is low humidity, you can't see the beam, but only the light on the clouds. I can make it dance and do cursive writing, and all kinds of things.
Before you start inventing aliens, you have to eliminate all Earthly phenomenon, which in this day and age is substantial.
The helicopter answer is the most likely.

The TV turning off was propably either a blown circut breaker or a power outage while the blue light was probably a police or news helicopter with a search light.

There are a huge number of things it could have been. Remote control plane, strange atmostpheric effects, a high powered light on clouds, It could have even been a strange reflection on the glass of your window. Sounds like it was interesting though.

You are not the first person to witness something happening in the heavens, something that can't be explained away so easily. I have no idea what you did see, I've learned not to tell folks that see unidentified things that it was their imagination. I believe you! Since you witnessed that phenomenon,it surely must peak your interest in our universe, and the fact that we're not the only ones here. Keep your eyes open!!!.......LATER....

I think what you may have seen was a very very bright star called a "blue giant". It is possible for stars to leave their course like that and then go back to normal. That happened to me once and I got scared until I asked someone at the planetarium and told me not to worry, so you shouldn't either ok? :)
