The winner, i.e. the loser, would lose 5 points. It not only would discourage (some) people from submitting ridiculous answers, it might encourage comically duuuur ones. It would open a new dimension in ANSWERS!

I TOTALLY agree! And I have been guilty of that sometimes just sending some stupid thing, others are MUCH worse. But yeah, I'd love to see how that would work out. (Might even cut down on some of the really ignorant, hate-filled rants we sometimes have to put up with....)

No, the point of Yahoo is to positively assist other people by developing their knowledge base. To make diminunitive other people's answers does not aid in this. If you don't want bad answers, reward only the best and ignore the others.

a good idea but i think it's unfair that the loser shall lose 5 point since he/she has tried hard to solve you problem

great idea! a lot of kids go on this site, so it should be appropriate. and if it would discourage some of the ridiculus and inapropriate answers then they should go for it!!!!
