I have heard stick with light colored, neutral walls. I hate to paint my beautiful blue front room. Will it be necessary?

neutral walls are better for selling a house. it does not matter if you really like the blue you are trying to sell the house, right? you can paint the blue in your new place. also make sure the house it clean and clutter free. start packing now and this way you can also get rid of things that you do not need. store the packed boxes in either the garage or a storage facility.keep the rooms well lit. make sure the windows and window treatments are clean.

People do like neutral walls because it's like a blank slate for when they move in. It's a blank canvas and they can then paint it however they want. I've also heard that kitchens sell homes. If the kitchen is old, outdated, and worn then it most likely will turn potential buyers off. Also just a tip: When you have open houses or when you are showing the house make sure to have lights on in each room. For some reason it helps houses sell. Also, don't move out before the house sells. Houses sell better when there is furniture in the house.

The most important thing is to declutter so countertops, etc look big and clean. Also, clean everything. If you have to, move some of your stuff to a storage unit for a while so the house has only necessities and will show much better.

If your furniture is still going to be in the room then no it isn't necessary. If it's an empty room then yes you should paint it. People like to imagine how their belongings will fit in the home. If they have an orange plaid couch (I hope not) it would be scary to picture it in a blue room.
