I have a funbox for skateboarding and i am going to put coping on it for grinding. I need to know how much a 2"by2"by3' piece would cost.

Both Lowe's and Home Depot sell a limited selection of aluminum and steel angle in various sizes and lengths. If either one has anything as big as 2" x 2", they will have it in either 3' or 4' lengths. I am guessing that the price will be somewhere around $20.00 because aluminum is kind of pricey. Look for it in the hardware section of either store.

Good luck with your project.

contrary to the other answers, for that amount of heat you need something thicker than 1/16 inch, that won't allow enough heat to flow from the hot spot (the IC) to the rest of the aluminum. I suspect when the heat sink gets hot, it's only near the IC, and cooler elsewhere. You need 1/4 inch thick, perhaps 1/2" But you also need a lot of surface area, and possibly fans. .

bypass the aluminum and get steel, it will be a lot cheaper.
