First of all, every county is different. You could contact your partner's defense attorney and determine the best course of action or contact a civil attorney in your area.

These are very tricky arrangements are often do NOT include any sort of private visits. In some states are also become, by marraige, financially responsible for your partner's liabilities (debts, fines, etc) once you are married. You may want to check that out as well.

Lastly, please take some time to reflect on the long-term consequences to binding your self contractually to a partner who will be incarcerated for a while. Make sure your relationship can handle that kind of strain. Good luck!

I know you want information about how to do what you think you want....but....wait.... think about this some more. He will probably get f------ in jail, literally and then be messed up once he gets out. He will get meaner, hard not to when you are abused. He will have a very difficult time getting a job and supporting himself, never mind you. What is your hurry????? I would have him prove himself a nice guy (how nice can he be if he is in jail- at the very least he was somewhere, doing something he shouldn't have been), and out of jail, and his life straight for at least a year before I signed a possible death warrant on the beginning of the rest of my life. Think again and again, girl.

Step back and take a look at your life:

You.

Are.

About.

To.

Marry.

A.

Man.

Going.

To.

Jail.

Let that sink in. Yes, I know you love him, et cetera et cetera ad nauseum. Get out and start fresh, don't condemn yourself to a life like this.

In six months I just don't want to see a "how do u divorce an inmate" question is all...

You got nothing better to do than marry a CONVICT??? You can't be that dumb. He's currently in jail, with a real good prospect of remaining there. Real promising life for you...isn't it? Think about it.

Call your local courthouse. They often have proxy weddings. Ask them what you need to do.

give me a break.......do not marry a man in jail........should we just tatoo idiot on your forehead? Now really, if this is a fluke and hes "really" a great guy then wait until hes proved that, served his sentence and is in good standing with the criminal justice system.
