Its only the beginning of the year and I already have a teacher that I feel is against me. I think he just doesnt understand my attitude and humour. But I said a couple of things that made me stand out, but it wasnt vulgar or inappropriate, the people around me found it amusing. He just gave me a very confused look eventhough he calls himself a fun and upbeat teacher. Well, from then on, he has treated me very differently. Everytime I talk, even about serious and professional things where I am not joking, he gives me a confused look. It makes me uncomfortable. How can I change how he sees me? I want to be respected but still have some fun.

Talk to him after class and tell him how you feel. Though, teachers aren't suppose to treat students any different than any other students. I think he has that confused look on his face because he probably thinks you can't be serious, and yet there you are, being serious about something. Maybe it'll go away with time. Try stopping with the humorous attitude. Then again, if he was the "fun and upbeat" teacher he called himself, he wouldn't treat you any different after what you did.
If all else fails, then give him a confused look back! Give him a taste of his own medicine. (WARNING: Don't take this tip seriously.)

Have some time to reflect on your answer that very first day, maybe some words that you used was not that good to your teacher. One thing that I can recomment you is try to talk to your teacher. Try to clarify the issue and ask for an apology if some things offend him. Always remember that for a person to be respected, you must act like one. You can always show your true colors or your individuality but also try to be sensitive to others. It won't hurt you. Good luck and hope you'll patch things up.

Talk to him about how you are feeling and why. Think about what you want to say and how you want to say it before you go. That will help you deliver your message in a manner that will be impossible to misunderstand. I had a similar situation with my boss and wrote down what I wanted to say, being careful to let her know that I respected her and was hurt by the things she said. It made a HUGE difference in the way she treated not only me, but everyone that worked for her after that. give it a shot!

More than likely you were disruptive to his educational "flow". He was in a groove with his instruction and you derailed it.
If you want to be viewed diffently then act different. To be respected and have fun means knowing when it's business time and when it's play time. Chances are if it is the middle of class it is not play time. The last few minutes are probably not work time.

you should talk to him outside of class and let him know how you feel. Also stop the inappropiate behavior that started all of this, just because other students are okay with your humour it doesn't mean it is appropriate for the classroom.

Speak to him after class.. Don't be combative though.. sound apologetic.. Hey I know this happen in the begining and I understood I was out of line.. I have tried to modify my behavior since, but I still feel we are disconnected.. How can we improve the situation.. blah blah.... you don't have to really think you were wrong.. but sometimes you have to suck it up in order to make headway with someone..

Maybe he just doesn't appreciate your brand of humor. Lay low for a week or so and then start to come out and be yourself again.

What exactly did you say?
Maybe what you said was more personal towards him then you even relized. does he act this way to JUST you or is he just like the in general?
If its deffently just towards you, talk to him. Tell him you notice the way hes acting, apoligize, get on his good side. =]
