I live in the Northeast USA in a climate with a lot of snow and cold winter temps. Spring usually doens't arrive until mid-April.

This depends on the bulb, of course, but the autumn is a good time for bulb-planting.

Be careful if you live in a cold climate, for some bulbs must be dug up in the winter (such as amaryllis and begonia)

Stick with crocus, daffodils (also called Narcissus) and, of course, tulips!

Hope this helps! ;-)

I produce lillies, (cala, may lillies, tulips and azucenas)
When I first started I pulled out the bulb to dry after the season had ended (june - jan) but then I got lazy and I have not pulled them out to dry in about three years. When the plant withers I cut it off, and the bulb remains in the ground, Up to date they are still growing by themselves when their season comes. If you plant them now, it does not do any harm, because the plant will know when it's time to grow and bloom. What you need to do is to mix and match plants so when your your bulbs are not producing, you will have other pretty blooms year round.

You can start planting your spring bulbs generally during the month of October.

It depends on the type of bulb.......go look for the ones you like then consult the diagram on the back for your area....they are planted at all different times.
