Best Friends?

How would you define this term? and what does it mean to you?

also can there be a differance, between a friend, and a Best Friend?

i think the phrase best friend is more a term of endearment than anything... it shows you feel alot for them and i would say i have several best friends... i would define it as being a friend who you have a special connection with!

I am a very wary person, and it takes me a long time to get to know people and more importantly to trust them. I have had one long term friend for over 20 years. She is the type of person that you don't have to talk to every day to stay close, and we can talk about anything. Our careers have a few times, meant that we have not seen each other for at least 1-2 years. But the sign of a TRUE best friend is that when we finally seen each other again, it was as if we had never parted. I am sad that I do not have more friends like that, who live closer to me, but I am thankful that I at least have one that I can rely on.

Someone you can trust 100% and is always there for you and also a friendship which stands the test of time - through good and bad times that you both have. Mine is someone whos been there for 20 years since we were first venturing into high school - we have gone through everything - teens, heartbreaks, marriages, sickness, children, snappy times and times when we just dont have time to spend hours on the phone but are always there for each other.

Best mates! You can tell them anything without thinking you are going to be judged and they can tell you anything without you judging them, you are there for each other when ever, you are very comfortable at all times with them. And most important you don't have to be in each others pockets at all time with the insecurity of not having their trust and friendship.
A friend is someone you can talk to but at your discretion.

when i had a best friend she wasnt really my best friend, i just said she was cos she said i was hers, i guess everyone needs a bestfriend in school, cos everyone has one and you need to fit in, but when i got older i realised they are not really your bestfriend, listen to me you would think i was old or something am only 20!

to me, best friends means trust and company. best friends are always there for you where ever they are. They always trust you no matter who says about who. they are quite open-minded too
