How many will I have to eat for this to happen? And will it be more economical than booking sunbed sessions? My summer tan is fading.

Will it give me the added bonus of being able to see in the dark?

Apparently it is. Supposedly it happened to GMTV newsreader Penny Smith, although she's such an attention seeker she maybe just said that to get attention. Mariella Frostrup did once complain though, that she'd to carry the extra weight of some of Penny's equipment because of the amount of carrots penny was carrying.
By the way, I wonder if Maisie 24's question is redundant, because it seems if you are sick, you well inevitably bring up any carrots you may have eaten.
Last thing, if you have a Vitamin A deficiency, you may suffer the aptly named night-blindness, meaning you have difficulty seeing in the dark. As carrots help boost your Vitamin A levels, they can help reverse this.
Presumably then, carrots can help you to see in the dark, but no better than any healthy person could.
Don't think it's a good idea for a tan-substitute though, the colour wouldn't be right for a start, and eating that many carrots would probably cause a rebellion from your stomach. And too much Vitamin A can be dangerous.

Actually, that's a misapplied association. We think that because the carrots are orange that if our skin turns orange it's from eating carrots. It's actually from eating extreme amounts of carrots and the reason it does that is because of the vitamin A in carrrots. We need vitamin A but can get too much of it and when that happens our kidneys and liver can't filter it out of our bodies. So our skin, which shows how healthy we are on the inside, becomes toxic and looks orange. It's like jaundice in a baby. Our skin can turn orange due to other toxins and overdoses as well.

I dont know about the skin thing, but
A.) Who wants orange skin anyway?
B.) Eating a ton of carrots or carrot juice will make you sick. Do you want to be puking carrots? I know I wouldn't.

Why don't you go out and get some of that bronzing cream instead. I know that some of those really work. And if you want orange skin, the cheap lotions are probably the best way to go.

A side effect of getting an overdose of beta carrotine is orangish skin. No this would not be good for a tan, it looks ridiculous and isn't good for you.

You'd have to eat a ton of carrots, a ton.

There is small amounts of evidence that say that beta carrotine can help eye sight in dark enviroments, but not by that much.

Yes, it is! I had a yoga instructor who drank carrot juice everyday and it did happen to him. Plus at one time there was a "Sun Tanning" pill advertised as "now get a tan without going into the sun". It was a rip off of course and all it was was carrot in a pill form.

If they did you would have to eat a lot of them ! and as for seeing in the dark thats a myth - if you open your eyes in the dark they begin to focus anyway so you can make out objects around you - as for the tan try using a skin moisturiser that has a tint in it to keep your colour a little longer.

It will turn you orange if you eat enough. But if you eat enough you would probably have such problems with your digestion etc, that your fading tan would be the least of your worries!

And why would you want an ORANGE tan anyway? (Are you practicing to get on 'Im a celebrity?')

Yes, it will turn your skin orange if you eat a LOT of it. Plus, even if you do, your skin turns orange, not a healthy tan.

Carrots does help your eyes, but it won't make you see in the dark.
