The sad answer is probably yes. Many people are afraid or uncomfortable with gay people. Hopefully when this question is asked in the future the answer answer will be different. But at any rate its not the quantity of friends that really matters its the quality of your relationship with the good friends you do have that counts

Being gay should not have anything to do with whether people like you, or not, it is how you treat them, that is what people should look at. Who cares if you are gay? I am gay and alot of people like me. :)

probably because supposedly americans are 70% christian and the christian religion frowns upon homosexuality. but a lot of people these days judge a person by his moral character and how good of a person he is... not by what he cannot change. you are always going to have those people who don't like you. thats a fact, and you know what, even non-gay people have people who don't like them too. its a part of life. so stick to hanging out with the people who love and accept you and you will come to not be as bothered that people sometimes dont like you. and always remember, you arent the only person some people dont like.

You will always have people who dislike someone for some reason or another - it's called prejudicial behavior. It's based on fear. So probably more people would like you if you weren't gay, but would you really want friends like that anyway?

More people would like you if you didn't ACT gay, no one cares if you are gay.

I would like to think that in this day and age, and unless you are in the South, that people will like you if you are a nice person. Who you sleep with shouldn't gauge that!
Unfortunately, if you ARE in the south, then I don't know what to tell you.
Stupid people are everywhere, so be careful.
So as long as you aren't a jerk, people will probably like you. There are way way too many reasons to not like somebody without knowing their sexual orientation. To me, that doesn't even matter.
The world is cruel, though, so please beware.

You being gay should have NOTHING to do with whether people like you or not. That's just ignorant.

Honey , that's not going to make any difference . What people think about you isn't your decision . In fact , it's none of your business . Im not trying to be rude , Im telling the truth and as long as you understand what it means , then you'll be OK and you wont be able to change for anyone because you'll only worry about what you think.

yup, maybe half the people in the US just plain don't understand or like gay people, in extreme cases , especially when they think THEY THEMSELVES MIGHT BE GAY, and they can't handle it, they even beat up gay people because of that.

I think they would prefered it if you wouldn't go around making it completely obvious that you are gay. Otherwise people don't care, they just don't want to hear about it.
