The difference is in the engines.

As Daniel L said, it's the engines. Rockets have a limited burn because it uses a self-contained gaseous combustible (like nitrous) which mixes with the fuel to get a high-powered burst (rocket power). A jet uses the oxygen in the air and a forced air convection system which mixes with the fuel to get a hotter, more efficient burn and better combustion to propel the jet. A jet engine usually has a turbine, as well, which helps the jet to sustain a higher top speed.

Jt engines in order to run must have Jet fuel and air and can only be used in the atmosphere. Rocket boosters don't and allow us to explore outer space. They don't require air
because their ignition source is one part Mono-Methyl Hydrazine and Nitrogen tetroxcide. When the two met each other at the vortex of a thruster boost happens spontanesly.

Not sure but ill give it a try (ha) :

A rocket shoots into the shy with the astronauts.
A jet is like an airplane but faster.

I think the difference is a jet you can't fly into outerspace but it is probably much faster than a rocket. A rocket is mainly used to go into outer space, and is launched uppwards. Maybe I think it weighs more than a jet. good luck!

A rocket has vertical propulsion.

A jet has horizontal propulsion.*

*The wings of a jet bend the wind so that the plane rises as the air passes over the wings.

Jet engines can be manipulated (speed-wise) to slow or speed up.

Rocket engines can not be manipulated. Once opened, there's no corking them. They just go till they run out.
