Time does not repeat, but the universe is alive and in an ongoing process of expansion and contraction, so it is always repeating itself if you look at it that way. Parts are always expanding and others contracting, all at the same time, so as an entire grid, the whole thing is constant and in balance. To say that it is expanding is to only look at our part of the universe. We know everything comes together through electromagnetism. Once there is enough mass together in one spot , it crushes upon itself and then begins to expand again. Each particle comes together with other particles in other areas to do the same thing again. It always has been this way and it always will be this way. Small parts of the universe seem dense and violent, yet most areas seem void and calm. Altogether, it is just a gigantic bunch of stuff and space moving in and out of itself.

The universe may be infinite and eternal. Is that enough to assure that it repeats itself? It seems likely that small, uncomplicated pieces of the universe do repeat, in some sense---consider a small volume of space-time with only one electron in it. So how large a volume does repeat itself? Infinities come in various sizes; some infinities are bigger than others. I could imagine that the complexity of large regions of space-time expand faster than the amount of space required to assure duplication, even though both are infinite. I speculate that there may be some maximum size to the regions that repeat. I would hope that me, sitting here typing this, hasn't happened before (or again).

No, it cannot possibly repeat because infinity can approach repetition, but, as in mathematics, infinity can also run forward without touching the number line. Of course, this model is based upon the idea that the universe is unlimited. Thus, although timeline of infinity comes closer to the point of intersection, the universe cannot repeat itself.

short answer is, no one knows. There is a theory called the oscillation theory, that the expansion of the universe will slow down, the universe will contract, into another big bang, and another incarnation of the universe will be born.

HOwever, recent evidence indicates the expansion of the universe seems to be accelerating. Very strange, there is no good explanation. So, unless there is something else out there that is going to eventually halt and reverse the expansion, it appears that galaxies will continue to fly apart forever.

there may b theorys about this question but im sure that they cannot be proven because if it repeats itself then we'd b dead and life in the universe would have to start over

Have you read/heard any Douglas Adams?
"There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable."
"There is another theory, which states that this has already happened."

As it happens, he's dead now, so he knows the answer.
That's what the ineffable Bob thinks anyway!

Is time cyclic, is time linear, is time just something for us to experience while we are alive?

What do you mean by repeat? Like everything that has happened will happen again? Stephen Hawking explored this question and concluded that, according to physics, there is no reason to think that things would run an identical course.

luv it.
if anyone of us truly had the answer to this. we certainly would not be sitting here answering this question. who knows....its the same as is there life after death....we don't know the answer and for all those who gave a yes or no answer.

No - the universe continually increases in ENTROPY (a measure a randomness) therefore repetition is not possible.
