Depends on the treaty. If you're talking about the treaties the U.S. government made with native Americans, nothing happened or will happen. The native Americans got screwed.
If you're talking about an international treaty, it is up to the two parties to re-negotiate if they can. Otherwise, it might be war.

See Iraq , they broke a nuclear treaty and see what happened to them. Even the US govt broke a geneva convention treaty but nothing happens to them. So it really depends on the size and power of that country.

It depends on the nature of the treaty.
Generally, if a country violates a treaty, the only direct consequences are they cannot then claim that treaty for their own protection.
However, other countries can take economic actions or impose political sanctions, as part of a "peer pressure" enforcement model.

Sadly, little or nothing happens. Nearly EVERY nation breaks treaties, and at the same time- faults other nations for doing the same thing.
