The short answer is ... they can get very big under the right conditions and they can be pruned or trimmed back. It is also true that they are often used as a topical remedy for skin irritations. There is so much more information available regarding this plant. A Yahoo search for "aloe plant care" (include the quotation marks in the search box) yields 4,150 results. If you do the same search, and are willing to spend a little time exploring, you will find lots of detailed information.

Good luck with your search.

An aloe plant can grow to be very big, if that's what you're asking. To control its growth, trim it. In fact, feel free to use the trimmings to soothe skin that has been chafed, cut, burned, etc. (Peel back the aloe's skin and rub in the juices from the flesh of the plant.) Congratulations on having such a healthy plant!

They also squeeze the juice out or run it through a juicer and drink it to help the internal organs of the body too. It doen't taste very good. I used to sell products made from the plant. If the plant is big and produces smaller plants you can pot them and sell them. There are alot of people that want those plants.
