Why do they make Baby Einstein videos when it's not healthy for children under the age of two to watch tv?

Yeah, says who?

My daughter is 18 months old. We dont let her just sit and be a zombie in front of the TV, but she does watch it now and then. As well as watching educational kids videos. She dances to background music on a commercial. She laughs when people do silly things. She learns new words. She goes up and points to things on the TV. She really likes it, and I'm glad. I dont want her watching anything innapropriate, or TOO much TV, but a little IS ok. Especially since we live in a small community and dont have a lot of money to take her out and do alot of things and expose her to the diverse world. So... she gets to see animals, see dancing, hear music, learn about colors, giggle at silly things, and be exposed to a variety of sounds and sights that she otherwise wouldnt get to see. We try to take her out as much as we can and let her see and touch and hear new things, but I also think that the TV can be a part of that too. She has a Bear in the Big Blue House video about using the potty that she LOVES. Its really helped to prepare her for potty training and get used to the idea.

Also, I think it has a lot to do with the colors and movement. She sits far from the TV, so no biggie. And it hasnt hurt her attention span at all. In fact, I think trying to pack too much into a childs life is what does that. Just chilling now and then is ok. She also LOVES books and can sit for an hour just looking at the pictures and pointing out her favorite things, and saying the words she knows for certain things. I think it really depends on the kid. I have a nephew the same age as my daughter and all he watches is spongebob for about 3 hours a day. Yeah, I dont think thats too great. But things in moderation can be ok.
Parents worry too much these days. Like stick your kid in a bubble or something, cuz if they go outside they might get kidnapped or break a bone. They might suffocate in their sleep. They might get ADD from too much TV. They might get molested by their daycare worker. They might eat something you dont know they are allergic to and die. I mean, for gods sake, just waking up in the morning is a risk. But freaking CHILLLLLLLLLLL

Hey, I'm a big fan of baby Einstein. Think about all of the visual and auditory stimulation babies get from the video. Especially for babies under a year old when oppertunities for such stimulation is limited. when critics say T.V. is bad for children they mean hours of usless t.v. that does not suport mental growth. You know, the mindless stuff like spongebob and nickleodeon stuff, etc...also, too much tv for anybody is deteriating to the mind, but a little baby bach and nursery rhymes once a day so the mommy can relax and have a few cigarrettes and some coffe because her little one decided he didn't want to sleep through the night right now, well hell, I'll take it, but you should be sure to offer other stimulations to him besides the 15 minute video.

Many people during Einstein's time (and even our modern era) ridiculed Einstein. This was due to the social problem in human society that degrades new, outrageous, and unique ideas and principles which Einstein became legendary upon. His theories and physical traits were ridiculed both in the scientific and social communities of his time. He was a true scientist and embraced discovery through intellectuality. Academic and intellectual discovery are at an all-time low as the youth are focused on memorizing older concepts and not moving forward in the field of science/mathematics. Those who laughed at Einstein (alive or not) are now silenced by his prompt recognitions and he is immortalized as a scientific head of inspiration and discovery. I hope this answer informed you upon your question and I would appreciate it if you accept it if you deem it worthy.

who said its unhealthy? I have heard the exact opposite. Studies have shown that young children exposed to the classical musics sometimes played in the baby einstein series have more brain function and learn to communicate faster that children who have not been exposed. my sister who is almost 6 is in first grade already! she had been watching those shows since she was about 3 or 4 months old. She is one of the brightest children in her class? Was it fate, or Baby einstein? Probably both, we'll never know.

I would like to know who has been researching these babies. Are they crying out saying "no, TV isn't good for me" I love baby Einstein and my son learned some sign language from them. Maybe one day I will have a quiet home. LOL. Now if only they will make them for dogs...

Oh, baby, I soooooo want to say BS!! Baby Einstein videos are GREAT!! My daughter has the set and her kids would immediately start repeating the words (when they were old enough). Sit them far enough away from the TV as to not hurt their eyes and they will be mesmerized for awhile.

I agreee with SP...BS!!!! My nephew is 4 now and has watched baby einstein and leap frog movies since he was born and he's able to read books himself, write large words, and knows simple math because of those movies...and my own personal experience...my daughter is 18 months and can say her ABC's(not in order but she can say them when pointed out to her) and can do some sign language because of baby einstein's baby wordsworth!

you need to read more. Its not healthy for them to watch TV all of the time and its not healthy for them to watch crap on TV. They are completely fascinated with shapes and colors, read up more on this.

My gran daughter is 5 mo. old and has been watching cartoons since she was 2 mo. old. Don't believe everything you hear or read. They like the colors and motion of the characters.
