No, changing a battery in a vehicle will not cause a check engine light to come on. The check engine light comes on when sensors are not sending expected signals to the computer. The computer doesn't "lose it's memory" as some have said if the battery goes dead. It does reset to default factory settings and then will adjust for optimum settings as you drive. It will keep the rpm set right at the right idle speed, etc. None of the defaults should turn on the check engine light.
If you see a check engine light, and take the battery cable off for 5 minutes, all you have done is destroy the error codes in memory that the mechanic could have used to help diagnose the problem with the car. If the light does happen to go off, since you haven't fixed the problem, it will come back on again.

No actually it'll do the oposite... if u have a check engine light on it will turn off when you remove the battery. What happens is, when you take the battery out of the vehicle you kill the power to the computer, thus wiping out the temporary memory of the vehicle and it forgets what set off light. Now what u can do to aviod this is buy what's called a battery saver. All it is is a cigarette lighter on one end and a 9v battery plug on the other end. Before u remove the battery plug (with 9v battery plugged in) this into ur cigarette lighter and you should be okay. It should keep the vehicle from losing it's temporary memory. Meaning you won't have to reset ur radio presets and such. You can find these at any Pep Boys or Autozone.

no...on the contrary if you disconnect the battery for any reason it will make the check engine light go off and clear the codes. disconnect the negative battery cable for about 10 seconds and reconnect it this should turn the light off. If it don't...it's a coincidence and you need to take it to the garage and have them diagnose it. Keep in mind...in most cases the check engine light does not mean you have a serious problem...it just means you have an emission control problem and the car will drive fine. Also check your fuses...you may have blown one.

yes and no, if the battery is bad and not charging then yes and it also might be that your computer reset and needs to be adjusted( dont panic lol ) just let it idle for a few minutes then drive it for about ten minutes, if it goes off then it was just that your computer needed to readjust for everything, it does that automaticly... could have also blown a fuse, so i would check the fuses under your hood and under the dash... hope this helps good luck

you want to analyze your connections back being attentive to plug connector 30B the position it is going into TSM/TSSM/HFSM.it really is conected to the VSS - vehicle % sensor. As it really is powered and monitored by making use of the ECM - digital administration module it is going to play up if no longer appropriate acceptable or the VSS is defective. If uncertain have your broking service verify it.

Some cars it shouldn't. If it does, take it to Autozone, and they should have no trouble clearing the code for you. If there is an Autozone in your area. Good luck.

Its possible because after changing the battery the computer loses power and resets. It shouldnt be expansive though they just plug into the computer and punch in some codes. Good luck
