I've been thinking about this for quite awhile now in an attempt to try to understand the answer to your exact question.

I used to think that Republicans who support Bush were just haters who were obviously miserable unhappy ppl that wanted to be angry and blame everybody else for what flaws they saw in their lives; BUT, I have come to realize this is incorrect.

The answer lies in the fundamental way of thinking. I will explain: take for example, homosexuality. The rightwing take the fact that the Bible states homosexuality is a sin to mean that it should not be allowed in our society. They see things in flat black and white; based purely on what THEY have decided is right and wrong. With this true conviction that they are right, they feel they have the authority, as the majority, to impose their beliefs on society, ignoring the rights of the minority.

The liberal pt of view, stems from society as a whole and the rights of the individual even when in the minority. Liberals, while many also considering homosexuality a sin in the Bible, do not feel it is their place to dictate to another person how he/she should live their life as long as it is within the confinements of the law. So, you see, the liberal-minded seem to look beyond themselves and what THEY believe is right or wrong.

Don't mean to make this a gay posting.. that was just an example to try to explain my answer to your question.

I have tried asking this question in different ways, but no one seems to get it. Bush is a Christian, or claims to be, right? But Christianity does not condone leaders who have certain motives that go against God. I am a Christian, so I have to be for Bush? You are right- something is not right here.
Just because a politician claims to be a Christian, does not make it so. Being a Christian has to do with a deep set of values, and actions that reflect what Christ would do. While some people may call themselves Christians, should it only mean that they don't believe in abortion? Or should it mean that they don't have ulterior motives that make it necessary to lie to the American people? Doesn't a Christian care about people? And shouldn't we, as Christians, call something what it is? I'm sick of the hypocrisy, and people who want things to be a certain way, so they pretend politicians mean what they say. Yes, I think a certain amount of conservatism is needed in this country, and I don't like the way society is headed. But give us truth and noble motives for a change, instead of greed disguised as democracy.

because they are uninformed. they believe that killing innocent people is ok...or they don't know all the casualties going on. and they don't realize that no terrorists are dying. the taliban posed no threat in the beginning. Bush is not doing what is right. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. now our war fronts are a big mess. Bush has failed.

Who does that? The President is not God and he would be the first person to correct you on that count.
He does do what is right though, which is a very good part of his personality.

The loyal opposition doesn't believe in God. Therefore, they have no moral compass and the concept of what is right or wrong is foreign to them.

He tries to equate his personal moves with doing what's "moral" and "proper", one of those massive volume of fundamentalist Christians help him for doing what they trust God ought to desire him to do. it really is exactly why he says that particular same sex marriage ought to threaten American households. for sure it does no longer. yet he thinks it truly is more advantageous important than the conflict and different genuine subject matters. Why? because it appeals to his "moral" base (the 20-30% approval base he continually looks to get).
