Furthermore, because the sun has mass, and gravity it exerts a pull to keep us in orbit round itself.

Any object in circular motion needs a pull towards the cente to keep it going round.

Matter tells space how to curve (gravity) and space tells matter how to move.

The sun is such a body and therefore has mass.

sun is like 1 billion time more massive than earth... gravity is very pronounced for dense and massive things... look at a black hole.
