Turning the phone off, lovelycece is right, good friends popcorn, no outside disturbances and a show that everyone in the room wants to watch (hopefully one that none of you has seen before). That's the ideal situation. Otherwise, sometimes it's nice to just sit alone and watch a TV show, especially when you've had a long day at work and more work at home, just to watch something entertaining with no one wanting anything from you for just a little while.

The number 1 thing you need to have when watching TV, is a good show, or else it could be torcher.
I love the Gilmore Girls, although it is sort of a girl's show. And I've recently started watching House.
Another good thing is the place. I always try and watch it in a bedroom, where there's not so much noise.

Make yourself a little nest before your show comes on - you'll probably need: remote control, cigarettes, soda/beverage, cell phone, ashtray, nibbles and a pillow. If it's chilly, have a blanket. This way, (unless you've got to pee), nothing should disturb your television viewing experience.
Do what you love! Love what you do.

A comfy recliner, remote control in hand, Doritos and dip at your side, and a warm cat snuggled against your other side. Volume loud, great programs on.

A really well written, well acted show. The rest is superfluous.
