OMG thats got me thinking.. was i at school when it was built .. used to pass on the bus... ermmm
its been there a while i would say approx 15 years

I sure that it was originally called the north Birmingham shopping centre and it opened in 1964.It was also planned to be much bigger and was to span the A34 on which it is built all the way to what is now Perry Barr dog track.The local residents committee culled that plan in the early 70's so it has stayed that size ever since.It has gone through a series of refurbishments since the 70's and was last tidied up about 16 years ago and since then has had the blue colour scheme

within the last six years - merry hil was opened in 1981!
