Mine was 'Don't stop me now' Queen
Lucky escape, it was a toss up between that and 'Greased Lightning' John Travolta.
I was very young!

Funnily enough, mine was also Don't Stop Me Now by Queen. I still have it, but it's a bit warped. Always had to play it with a penny blu tacked to the stylus. It has a black and white label and it had a plain white sleeve.

The Beatles - "I Want To Hold Your Hand" -
my first actual 7-incher wasn't a single, it was a 33 1/3 rpm EP entitled "Four By The Beatles" - had "Roll Over Beethoven and "All My Loving" on side 1, "This Boy" and "Please Mr. Postman" on side 2 - sepia-toned cardboard cover with photo of the Fab Four in their collarless suits - understand it's pretty rare nowadays, but back then it cost me 69 cents at Lane's Drug Store

My first LP was " Dream Weaver" by Gary Wright, I still remember the smell of the cherry incense in the record store, but for the life of my I cant remeber my first single.
Must of been how proud I was to fork over all that cash that I'd saved to make such a lasting memory and how crappy the rest of the album was.

My first 7 inch single i brought was true by Spandau Ballet in the 80s from Woolworth's,i felt dead embarrassed going up to the counter to get it,because it isn't really a song that you'd expect a teenage lad to be into, but i was,it then got worse i got into Kylie and Jason LOL

First single ever bought was The Primitives - Crash, the first time it was released unfortunately, from Woolies.

Before that the only records we had were stolen from my uncle, Teardrop Explodes - Reward and we used to think it was great fun to dance to I lost my heart to a starship trooper, I am so glad we couldn't afford a video camera, oh the shame.

Effin hell, I am of a certain age, bugger.

Olivers Army - Elvis Costello. The B side was My Funny Valentine which I absolutely loved. Unfortunately I took it into the leaving Junior School disco and Brian Scales robbed it, I will have my revenge one day.

I bought a 45 at Zodys (if anyone remembers that store). It was Blondie "The Tide is High".
The other day I had a 20 year old ask me what a 45 was...geeze!
