In Hindsight I would say it is learning lifes lessons by trial and error. As you age, you are going to find that some of your most horrid moments of youth are going to be what makes you who you are.. Now I am not sure that qualifies as an answer for the question. I guess the essence of youth, is youth it self. Time passes more slowly, the pressures although real are not as pressing. Dateing, the first kiss, flirting, etc.. Then ther is learning and looking at the world, wondering if you are the one who can possibly save or change it.. Youth is beautiful.. And if you are willing to learn from one who has been there I will offer some truths.. Youth does not have to end so soon, keep your innocence as long as possiable. Beleive in fairy tales, never stop dreaming, and don't touch a hot stove twice. Allthough some mistakes do have to be repeated.. Listen to the ones you love and know care about you.. If they see you heading down a wrong road, they will be the first to tell you..Make music a big part of your life. Learn to play an instrument and listen to the Grateful Dead, Some of the original members still tour and the music is as good as ever.. No matter how much ya parents suck, they still love you. There is so much more, but what would be the fun if I gave it all away..One More thing.. When you finally fall in love, make sure there is no jealousy and a ton of trust..Let your partner look or flirt all they want, As long as they come home to you.. Also remember that you both need time apart and other friend and hobbies... God Bless

That is the essence of adolescence — they are too much, too big, too demanding, too "unrealistic" — and that is precisely why we need them in this minimalist, cool, and disconnected culture.

Kingsbury’s film The Essence of Adolescence is a celebration of the exuberance of youth, as expressed through snowboarding, BMX biking and skateboarding. An honest film which shows not only the jumps, but the failures too. The Essence of Adolescence is youthful, quirky, spontaneous and energetic.
The Essence of Adolescence was directed and produced by Kingsbury for Khaos Productions (Canada).

The essence is the innocence of not knowing how the world really works. Before you be come wrap-up in the bs of adult hood As adults we lie cheat steal in some way or form no matter what we say just to get ahead or just to get bye.We forget what it was like to enjoy everyday as if it was our last.As Adolescence we live for today not thinking about tomorrow the essence comes from living.

Attitude. Making life tough on the people who brought you into the world. That is the job of the adolescent.

Experiencing different situations and learning from them, also it's about having fun. You should always do these two things but they are key during adolescence.

It's the turning point between childhood and adulthood. To learn from our mistakes and successes which prepares us for adulthood.
