Chanel if you want classic elegance. For something sweet without being over-powering, a good vanilla-musk scent. If you're into floral & lighter scents, perhaps something with spring flowers, though you could even go darker there with orchids as base.
Whatever you choose, just make sure it suits your personality & style, and make sure that it doesn't react badly with your body chemistry. Why not choose several different brands and scents, then you could switch between depending on your mood....just a thought.

Perfume is a really personal preference. Not just because of what someone likes...but each scent smells differently on different people.
My preference is either Eternity or Cinnabar (by Este Lauder).

Perfumes react differently on different skin. I can't wear "flower scents" but can wear something citrus or musk base. One of my favorites, is Dream Angels Heavenly. It's sold at Victoria's Secret.
