You'll get a positive till your hormones go back to "normal." The length of time varies.

If you still have tissue, you'll continue to have break-through bleeding and spotting.

Unless you get a fever or cramping, I wouldn't worry. If you start having any unusual symptoms, call your doctor. But if it's just the positive test, don't sweat it.

I would request a scan, i find it hard to carry past six weeks, and i lost my last one naturally and did not need a clear out. However my test came back negative after a few days. You could still be carrying sometimes a period can be confused with a miscarriage, or you could have had a multiple pregnancy. If you have lost the child and tissue is still present this can cause health problems and problems when you decide to try again. Insist on a scan from you doctors, and if it shows no child insist on a scrapping of the womb to clear any possible tissues left behind. DO NOT WAIT! This is a traumatic time for you request it now for your own peace of mind.

I am so sorry i know how hard it is to get past a miscarriage, but eventually one will hang on in there and all the pain and confusion is worth it.

I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage I am not sure about the test still being positive at all as I never miscarriage. I am wondering if it could take a while for the body to not have the pregnancy hormone in it. Did you have a D&C done if so that sould have gotten rid of any tissue left behind. but if there is still tissue It could cause an infection. If you can see the Dr sooner or even just your GP I would be trying very hard to have this cheeked out.

It usually means that you still have the pregnancy hormone in your body. There is the possibility that u could have been carrying twins and u miscarried one, but it depends on whether u had a D & C or not. If u did it is very unlikely that the other twin would still be there, besides they should scan u beforehand to check for this possibility.
I'm so sorry about u're baby, I do know how u feel having lost my third baby last year quite far on. It will take u a long time to get over it.
You can always ring your midwife if u cannot speak to u're doctor and she should explain to u properly why u are still showing a postive reading.
Take care

Firstly..sorry to hear about your sad loss, i know how hard it is to cope after a miscarriage. A few years back my sister-in-law had miscarried, she was an emotional wreck, even though the pregnancy was unplanned and a complete surprise, she was still over joyed at the prospect of having a baby. It was only when she went back to the hospital a month later with stomach cramps and heavy bleeding that they realised she was miscarrying again! That was when we all realised that she as carrying twins. We were told that doctors only assume women carry only one child at a time until a scan shows otherwise. I can only say that you are best off asking your doctor to send you for a scan to check if you are still pregnant.
I wish you luck and happiness.

unless it was a multiple pregnancy ... tell ur doctor he may rearrange a scan . I miscarried a few years ago , it was on a saturday (xmas day ) and when i went back to the hospital on the tuesday the test was negative .. so ur test should be neg after a week at the most . R u sure u miscarried ?? Bleeding is common in early pregnancy as the baby embeds on the womb that can cause a bleed .. I bled at 10 weeks with my last baby and all was well ...

you may still have good news !! good luck & keep us posted

I had a miscarriage and 4 wks after was still doin pregnancy tests that proved positive, i doctor and was told this was normal as it takes ur body time to regulate the high pregnancy hormone levels, dont keep doing that to urself its wastin lota of money and buildin u false hope, keep to the healthy lifestyle and try again LOL and good luckxxx i declined a dnc also and passed a rather big clot that must have been the baby in the hospital but they checked my womb was empty b4 i went home. if there was tissue left ur at risk from infections so if ur heart says it then pleeeeease go to the doctor as bad infections can damage u if untreated xx

Depending how far along you were, you may still have tissue left in there, and may need a DNC. I really don't think a positive result would come from tissue, because it is suppose to be dead. It would just be left over hormones in your system. Although, since it has been a few weeks, I can't see why any hormones would still be left over. Maybe you need an ultra sound to see if there is any left over tissue. Maybe you are still pregnant or just got pregnant again. I'm sorry by the way and Good Luck in the future!

Did the doctors not say anything about it??? I've had 5 miscarriages and the latest a test came back positive (that I know of I didnt have them done too long after the miscarriages) was a week after i actually miscarried. Have you had a scan to make sure it was a complete miscarriage? If not you should have one done just to check everything is cleared ok.

Sorry about the miscarriage

I had a miscarriage Aug. 25th. A couple days ago I took a pregnancy test and it still said positive so i was freakin out. I went to the doctor Monday morning and they said i was pregnant with twins the first time and i only miscarried one of them. So go to the doctor because you may be pregnant still. you may have been carrying twins!
Good Luck!

i have had a miscarriage in the past but I had a dnc. (It was the worst experience I could of ever had.) but recently I gave birth and everything seemed fine physically until a week later and I lost an almighty clot! they said there was placenta left and I had to take two types of antibiotic to prevent infection. personally speaking whether you've had a dnc or not you are capable of picking up an infection by one way or another and it's not going to be easy convincing the doctors either cos they don't know everything! So be aware of how you're feeling and get help if you need it.
