Ok if 1 is 1, 3 is 4, and 7 is 16, then first you have to figure out 5. The most obvious pattern would be this:
Player: 01 03 05 07 09 11
Points: 01 04 --- 16 ---- --
You notice that there is a difference of 3 between 1 and 4 and that there is a difference of 12 between 4 and 16. So you have to split the 12. You would want to split it into 5 and 7. So now you plug in the number for 5.
Player: 01 03 05 07 09 11
Points: 01 04 09 16 --- ---
Then just figure out for the 9 and 11.
Player: 01 03 05 07 09 11
Points: 01 04 09 16 25 36
So player 9 scored 25 points and player 11 scored 36 points.

Notice something? This is exponential graph. Player 5 was excluded. Player 5 should have 9 points. Knowing this, player 9 should get 25 points and player 11 gets 36 points.

The easiest way to do this and any similar ones is to make a graph. Get some graph paper and put player numbers from 1 to 12 each on a box going up the paper. Put player scores from 1 to 20 each on a box going across the paper. Put a dot for each player on his line and over to the right by as many boxes as he scored points. if it is player 3 for example go up 3 boxes and then go over 4 boxes. That puts the pair of facts (3,4) in the right place. Do that for all the player numbers you have scores for. Draw a line through all of those dots that you made. That shows the relationship between player number and score. Now go up to the 9th line for player 9 and draw that line across the page until it hits the graph you made. The number you see where his number hits the line is the score answer for player 9. Now do the same kind of thing for player 11 and see where his line hits the graph. That is his answer.
Since the subject is graphs an algebraic way that doesn't use graphs is going to be marked wrong anyway,
It is a good thing that Yahoo can't ask for your mother's driver's license to confirm it is really her asking.

Those who answered 25 & 36 are right. This function is given by
y = (x/2 + 1/2)^2 where x is the player # and y is the points.
Simple substitution gives player 9--> 25 pts & player 11--> 36 pts.
I figured this by taking the square root of the points given. They lie on a straight line of slope 1/2 and intercept of 1/2.

the pattern is this:
take only odd players. (1,3,5,7,9,11)
They scored their number, plus the addition of the previous player's score:
1= 1+0=1
3=3+1=4
5=5+4=9
7=7+9=16
9=9+16=25
11=11+25=36

I believe bramblysp... is correct:
for every odd numbered played, call it x, the player's number of points is the the square of (x+1)/2.
so, for the 1st player, the number of points is the square of (1+1)/2 = 1, the square of 1, which is 1
for the 3rd, 4, and for the 7th, 16
so for the 9th, it should be 25, and for the 11th, 36.
... and I think that's a bad homework question, but I guess sometimes you get those too.
