anyone have any thoughts?

my mother (54 yo ohterwise healthy female) was suddenly sick with vomitting, low grade fever and serious fatigue. she was so weak she was taken to the hospital by ambulance. they first thought gallbladder, then kidney infection, but nothing was truly diagnosed. after three days, she seemed better and she was released, still with no daignosis. about 12 hours later, she was again so weak, she was returned to the hospital by ambulance. they've been pumping fluids and morphine for abdominal pain and nasuea mes, but still no diagnosis. there is no fever, no diarhea, only vomitting and nausea with some abdominal pain. they 've done an ekg, a stress test on her heart an upper gi. nothing.

any thoughts?

and no....she did not eat tainted spinach.

They tell the medical students at medical school, that the acute tummy pain is a Pandoras's box. There are are so many things that can cause your mom's symptoms. Sometimes the doctors themselves are not sure about the exact cause, but they should be starting to treat her adequately on a presumptive basis. Why dont you find the doctor in charge of your mother's care and tell him your concerns? Even the most busiest doctor will have some time to tell what they have found out so far and will be glad to tell you about their treatment plans.

I don't mean to scare you or anything, but these could possibly be symptoms of stomach cancer. My friend's grandparents had the exact same thing happen to them. Out of nowhere, there was constant vomitting and nausea. The hospital couldn't tell what was wrong until blood tests and scans were done. I hope you guys find out quick and that your mother gets better very soon. =)

oh wow! THose are my exact symptoms of the past. I had severe abdominal pain, vomitting, super weak and dizzy.. the horrible hospital let me suffer for two months before my parents told them to go in and do an exploritory surgery. i had a HUGE cyst twisting my fallopian tube and it caused me severe injury and damage to my fallopian tube. they arent even sure if i will be able to have kids. dont let it get that severe. if it is bad enough tell them that you want an exploratory surgery and you want it NOW.
also i forgot to mention. if the hospital is refusing the surgery talk to her OB/GYNO. they might be more thanhappy to do the surgery! thats who performed mine! good luck. i will be praying for her! <3 Angie

Get an abdominal x-ray done. Could very well be intestinal obstruction/volvulus. Same thing happened to me & I almost died before the hospital would take me seriously/admit me, order an x-ray & call the surgeons.

Best of luck...

Sometimes it can be really difficult to form a diagnosis. They will work on it until they find a cause. Meanwhile supportive therapy is indicated.
