Chec to make sure your heater is still working, but the problem is most likely lack of oxygen. You can buy aerators the have batteries for when the power goes out. Do a 50% water change right away. I would normally suggest bottled spring water, but anything that has been in a bottle for a while has not enough oxygen in it. Use dechlorinated tap water at hte same temp. as the tank so you don't cause any more stress.

Hmmm - blue dolphin Malawi? Their min temp is like 72 degrees and it's still at least that warm around most of the country. Your power being out for an hour should not have dropped the temp that drastically.

Do a partial water change---add in warmer water. Cichlids (malawis) are tropical fish---if the water went too cold, it's just as dangerous as if it was too hot.

Take out about 10-15% of your water and replace it with some warmer water (dechlorinated and such). If you have stress coat, add that. Otherwise, add a little bit of NON-IODINE salt (table salt that has no iodine in it is fine too)---1/2 tsp. per gallon should help balance nitrate levels and destress your fish.

Good luck!

you will most like loose some of your fish. What you need to do is do a half water change. Take out half the water and put in fresh clean water, including stress coat.

drop ice cubes in the tank for quick cooling, until it gets to the normal temp. it was before.
Just keep testing it until it is the right temp. Then let the heater take over.

It's overheating! get them out into cooler water, or add cooler water.
