Video cameras are very hard to capture faint light and still cameras need time exposure. Now all of these answers can be rolled into one and you have the perfect answer. (talk about teamwork!)

Because the suits and the space station are all white. They reflect sunlight and that causes the camera to use a narrow aperture setting. That blocks out the faint light from the stars.
A shot directly into space without any objects in the foreground do show stars.

It's just because the space station is so bright relative to the stars. If the camera was set to see the stars, then the station would be way over exposed.

Please go out with your camera at night and take a picture of a friend with flash. You won't get any stars in the shot, trust me.
Jeez, people know nothing about photography.
Also, on a clear night, go into a really bright room for several minutes, then dash outside and look in the sky. You won't see any stars until the pupils in your eyes open up again.
It's the same thing with a camera - flood it with light and it won't pick up dim objects.

You already have two good answers. This is similar to the reason you can't see a the light from a flashlight in the day; the sunlight bleaches everything out when your eyes are set to see in bright light, not dim light. The light is there, you just can't see it. Now the next time someone says we never landed on the moon because there were no stars showing in the pics, you know what to say.

Plus to see the stars you would have to overexpose to capture the light from the distant stars. This is the same reason you don't see stars on the original pictures from the moon, now if only conspiracy nuts would understand this.

Because the light is too distant & small to capture.
