Any team who can achieve as much as the Detroit Tigers have after so little was expected of them had a great year. The only thing that could soil this season for Detroit would be if the White Sox knocked them out of the playoffs before the end of the regular season.

Considering expectations, I don't see how anyone could argue that it hasn't already been a successful season, even if they ended up being passed by both Chicago and Minnesota.

They've had strong performances from unexpected sources, and guys like Verlander, Bonderman and Zumaya have shown that this is a franchise to be reckoned with over the next several years. If anyone was supposed to challenge the White Sox and Twins, it would have been the Indians, not the Tigers. They have exceeded almost all expectations to even be in the hunt, and any postseason play would be a bonus.

Sure, a failure now might seem at first glance to be disappointing. But, if you look at preseason feelings about the team, the season has been an incredible success.

they did have a great season i will give them that but i honestly think that the twins will pull ahead and win the division and the sox will beat them in wild card and it wont be that bad to not make it to the world series cuz how long has it been since the tigers were that good u cant expect that much from them i mean u can but im saying thats great for what their history has been and i think it will be very dissapointing if they dont make the playoffs but i dont think they will and thats just the white sox

Uhmm, dude, they already have an outstanding season. Look at them right now, One of the best teams in the AL. Last year they were one of the worst. So like, they already have an outstanding season. As for World Series, I want them to win it all, however, the yankees are going to be tougher this year than in the past 6 years.

No it will not be a disappointing season for the Tigers, They were not expected to do near as well as they have. The loss of Polanco really hurt them, I hope they having on to get the Wild Card and keep the White Sux out.

There is no way that this could be a disppointing season for the Tigers, World Series or not. They could get knocked out in the ALDS and we would still be proud as hell of them. They pulled one of the most stunning turnarounds in baseball history and got baseball back to being important in Detroit., and that is a successful season IMO.

By the way, they WILL win the WS ; )

No, it wont be disappointing.

The fact that they have won more than 81 games is amazing!

Sure, it would be nice if they went that far.

I see them getting past the 1st round, but not past The ALCS.

All this experience will make them better next year, when I am sure they will be real contenders to go all the way.

All in all, I am pleased and excited for what they have done so far.

Heck No!
They've played great this year and they're not quite done yet.
I don't see them at the WS because I see the Yankees & Mets there,
but they'll get very close.

They should be proud of what they've accomplished already this year!
Nobody expected that!

For a team that many thought may lose 100 games, I would say they had a very satisfying year!

They had a good year. But it seems they are collapsing towards the end. I don't think they have enuff to go past the ALDS.
