I have had 2 children and the pain is pretty hard to go through without drugs. I know a lot of people now a days want to do things the "natural" way. But my opinion why?? Epidurals are wonderful at easing pain. I had an epidural with both of my labors. I recommend them to any woman wanting pain medication during labor. Giving birth hurts and it isn't a bravery competition if there are drugs that fix the pain why not get them!

I was in the room when my nephew was born and his mom, my best friend had an epidural and didnt even feel baby being born. I has my first son 2 1/2 yrs ago i didnt have no pain medicine, i didnt want me or the baby drugged up. She couldnt even move her own legs. But it took her 3 pushes after the first one. good luck in the decision u make. i felt my son come and it was the most wonderful thing. youll forget about all the pain when u see the baby!

Epidurals are nice, however...When I had mine I thought that the pain would be GONE and that is not the case. They make it feel better but it isn't completely gone. You are going to have to be so far along in your labor also. You are going to give birth and I hate to burst your bubble, but it HURTS and there isn't anything you can do to get out of the pain entirely. Just be prepared, go to a childbirth class to learn techniques on how to deal with it. GOOD LUCK!!!

It is up to you and the pain intensity. I was at my weekly checkup when I was 38weeks or so pregnant and was dialated to an 8 and fully effaced and did not know I was having contractions. I was sent straight to the hospital from there they broke my water and did not have any drugs to deliver my son. For me I obviously didnt need them. Maybe you will get as lucky. Plus ask your doctor I have heard of back problems after getting epidurals.

Yup, nothing wrong with a little bit of drugs to help with child birth. If you are a small women with a big man, and especially if he has a big head (head with eyes and nose not...). Get the drugs. If you are a big woman with a little guy, and a little head. Take a look at your history to see if anyone else in your family had a bad pregnancy. If there are no bad pregnancies, then you might not need the drugs.

if you have a low tolerance for pain...then by all means DO SO!!
both times i scheduled and epidural just in case, both times i never had it. my first one fell out. only 4 hours of labor and as soon as my water broke he came out. even my doctor yelled at me to wait. like i had control to stop a baby from running out! with my second 5 hours. but, i still had that epidural guy waiting just in case.
now i am on my third, i will still schedule him there. but i may use him...i may not. depends how long i am in labor.

I have only one child, and the only drug that I got was a shot called stadol. It eased the pain. I did not get the epideral because I am not good with pain. I was scared of the epideral because it goes into your spine and if you move in any way it could paralize you. In my opinion no, if it is a must then get the simplier medicines for pain. I hope this helps.
