i don' think it would help.. i think a good dress code is enough.. why make kids look similar to each other when they are all very different.. so i think schools should shy away from uniforms and stick to a good balanced dress code!

I agree and disagree on uniforms in the school system. Wearing uniforms is easier on the parents b/c they don't have to fight with the child on what they are going to wear to school. It also can reduce other children from making fun of a child that doesn't have "name brand" clothing. Wearing Polo or Tommy clothes doesn't make one a better person than someone wearing Walmart clothes. On the other hand, wearing uniforms takes away from the child's ability to be themselves or express themselves. I think wearing uniforms should be on a school to school basis. It may work for some schools & not for others.

I agree and wish my kids' school district would use uniforms. Uniforms help kids feel like equals at least from a financial view point and takes away the worry of wearing the "right" clothes. It is also a savings for parents and less hassle trying to figure out what to wear.

Totally agree. Uniforms help promote bonding, unity, and cohesion within the student group and emphasizes their sameness rather than their differences. We'd find that our kids would not only get along better now, but they would also be better prepared to work together as adults in the workplace. I believe our kids would benefit greatly from a little "uniform" therapy right now.

I went to a school where we had to wear a uniform, so I agree. I think it helps keep everyone at the same level. You don't have to worry about what to wear, and it instantly adds an air of professionalism and disipline. Kids won't make fun of others who aren't dressed as well.. it really brings a sense of unity to the students. I loved wearing a uniform to school!

Disagree, i personally have to wear these uniforms... all they do is turn the so called popular people into s|utty b!tches because they are allowed to roll up their skirts to inapropriate lengths. They still makefun of those who look different or studder when they read aloud... and despite what people are saying, private school people ARE NOT SNOTTY!

I DON'T THINK SO! IN OUR PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM THEY HAVE CAHNGED DRESS CODE TO UNIFORMS AND IT DOES NOT HELP. CHILDREN ARE STILL TEASEING CHILDREN, THE UNIFORMS COST MORE THAN ORGINAL CLOSE, AND IF YOUR CHILD DON'T COME TO SCHOOL WITH THE CORRECT COLOR PAINTS, SHIRT, SHOES, SOCKS, BELT, JACKET, OR ANYTHING THEY WILL EITHER SUPENED YOUR CHILD OR SEND THEM HOME UNTILL THEY GET THE CORRECT ITEM. PLUS IT BRINGS DOWN OUR CHILDREN SPRIT ALSO BECUASE THEY CAN NOT EXPRESS THE WAY THEY FEEL AND SOME OF OUR CHILDREN HAS DROPPED IN THERE GRADES BECAUSE OF THESSE UNIFORMS

disagree, freedom of expression is VERY important to most students, i feel comfertable(sp?) in what i wear and i dont feel i need to change that, but if you take away the individuality on the outside, i just feel for more or less naked and cant concentrate...it would be like that everyday for many kids without that fundimental freedom, besides, we only get so many years to be completly free, why spend some of the best and most important ones not being the school's little drone army..

I thinh not. I wore a uniform most of my life. They still pick on u if its to loose or its the wronge shade of color. It makes no dif onces so ever. They make the kids look the same and act the same. Bascially taking away their ture self.It is horbile and dose not help at all.

The only ones that benefit from it are the parents b'cause it saves them a lot of money. It's not nice for the kids b'cause they can't wear what they want to express their sense of style.
