Hey everyone,
I'm a little new to this whole chat thing. I got married in June '06 and in August me and my husband decided that we wanted a baby right away...we love children! I went on the pill in April of '06 and went off the pill in August...so that would be almost 4 months on the pill?
Anyways...I finished the packet on the 6th of August and I finished my period the next day. It is now September 18th and I haven't gotten my period yet, I'm not worried, I don't think I am pregnant...I tried a HPT...but it was negative. I did ovulate 2 weeks after my period. So...I guess this is just all new to me....So if anyone has been here....answers would be nice. Also, I have been having really bad sharp cramp pains in my lower stomache for about 5 days...maybe my period will arrive soon... Advice would be very appreciated at this time.

If you are trying to get pregnant, you should be having sex at least 2 days before you ovulate. Sperm can live up to 72 hours. HPT can come out negative until you are about in your 5th week. Cramping could be anything. When my husband and I tried to get pregnant, we literally had sex everyday the entire month of April of 05. I'm not good at calculating when I ovulate. I figured it was some time near the end of the month. We have a 8 month old boy now, so that worked. Good luck my dear, parenthood rocks!

It doesn't hurt to get used to the marriage for a while before you jump into having children, and perhaps your body unconsciously knows this even if you haven't given it any thought. After you have been married a few years you will be more relaxed about everything and having a child will come much more naturally. Sure, a lot of people have kids right away, but then, a heck of a lot of people get divorced after they've had these kids and there's all these young children running around wondering why mommy and daddy don't live together anymore. Please don't put the cart before the horse like far too many folks do; love each other for a while exclusively before you worry about bringing another life and object of love into your house.
Been there...done that...learned the HARD way.

Sometimes after going off the pill your periods can be irregular. When I stopped the pill my periods stopped also. I am now 5 months pregnant and never had a period before I concieved. So just give it time and a little patience. It will happen. I hope everything works out well for you!

Amanda, to get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.

After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.

After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.

Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

You and your husband aren't doing it often enough, that's why your having pains, It's your body's way of telling you to do the deed more often. So stop posting these questions and get down to business.
