Let me be of assistance. First place the vehicle in neutral or park. Shift the transfer case lever from 2H to 4H. You should see an indicator light on the dash that comes on saying either 4WD or 4H. Put the vehicle in drive (automatic) or 1st gear (manual) and release the clutch or accelerate slowly. Practice this a few times, than select 4L and do it again. This will put you in the low gearing selection for steep hills and/or maximum traction requirements. Getting out of 4WD is the opposite. Stop the vehicle and place in in neutral. Shift the transfer case lever in 2H and then back into gear. If you have locking hubs on the front you must engage these before shifting into 4WD. These are done manually outside the car at the center of the front wheels.

Very easy...While still in Park place the 4x4 Gearbox into the desired Level you want. 4H is high output meaning you can drive up to 35 mph, 4L is used for deep holes, snow, best traction controller but can only reach speeds to 15 mph. This is mostly used for places where you can drive slow and drive out carefully. Once you find the correct 4x4 feature you want, place your car into which way you want to go and drive off...but make sure you dont travel very quickly. Another thing, Anytime you use the 4x4 feature, stay off of the pavement, your model jeep isn't suppose to be driven 4 wheel drive on hard pavement. Can ruin the 4x4 Drivetrain, todays vehicles are made to do so, not yours.

To get back into 2 wheel drive, Stop your jeep, place the 4x4 gearbox back into 2H, place the Jeep in Reverse and back up for 10 feet. This disables the 4 wheel drive feature.

You can actually shift from 2H to 4H (or vise verse) at any speed. You don't have to do it from a dead stop or with the vehicle in "P" or "N". There are 2 options you have for shifting your transfer case. One is buy a button on your dash that might read "4WD" or "4X4" if you have the electronic shift option. The other is buy manually shifting the transfer case with the shift lever coming out of your floorboard. If the transfer case has never been shifted, it may be tight so you'll have to pull a little bit to get it to move.

If its something like my 1992 XJ, which had FWD on the Fly, then you incredibly would desire to be waiting to pop it into 4wd by potential of purely pulling the lever lower back to the FWD hi (4H) place. make certain you're rolling and in kit. in case you prefer to bypass into FWD LO (4L) you prefer be stopped, tranny in independent, push interior the grasp, and pull the FWD lever all the some time past. Then purely shift and bypass. do not shift previous 2d kit.

Absolutely refer to the Owners Manual...I don't know but if you do NOT get an answer here, do THAT. ALSO, call a Jeep dealer, and hope you get lucky. Ask for the MAINTENANCE (SERVICE) DEPT......NOT Sales...Sorry all you salesmen.....
