What are the best public universities in Texas?

I'm a high school senior feeling overwhelmed. I hope to have my choices finalized by early Oct. I'm almost certain I'll be staying in state. I'm looking to major in microbiology or some kind of brain science. Thank you.

With this sort of major, you will probably want to go to UT or A&M.

University of Texas-Austin is by far the best public school in TX. But I think you should also consider Rice University considering they have really low tuition.
