It has been there for probably 10-15 years and never any pain or discomfort, and actually it is not terribly noticeable. Even the doctors haven't mentioned it to me, although I'm sure a couple have noticed. so maybe it is nothing. It's probably the size of a tiny egg. I'm just curious. Does anybody else have this?

It could be a tumor that is benign. The body can create tumors that aren't cacncerous.

the real question is have you brought it to your doctors attention. You should never assume that they will notice it. the number one source of information for doctors is what the patient tells them.

Also as you get older, even benign tumors can become cancerous later in life. I suggest you point it out to your doctor and Not take any advice from this site seriously when it comes to your health.

Well, In your neck there are lymph nodes. When you get an infection, they swell, sometimes it's hardly noticeable..other times it very noticeable. The thing about you, is it might just be a lymph node that got swollen and never for whatever reason drained and went back down. Now, if it feels hard, and moves it might be a cyst, so in either case go to your dermatologist and get it checked out. It might be nothing, it might be serious. Ask to get a biopsy done on it, where they stick a hollow needle in it and then analyze the cells found in the sample. Then you will know. Best to find out and know it's nothing then to not know and it be something. If you have to hound your doctor, beat it into their head because you need to know!

Best of luck and good health!
