Hi,
You are only as old as you feel. I am 56, and have discussed this subject with friends, both younger and older than I.
I look at others and mentally think of them as an older person, then have a second look and realise they are about my age. Now that's a worry.
I have seen people of 80 years that looked 20 years younger, and also 60 year olds that looked 80.
It's perceptive. You are only as old as you feel.
Hope this helps, but I suspect it only clouds the question a little more.

The older you get, the further "old" seems to be.
What I mean is at 19, 30 seems old
At 30, 60 seems old
At 60, 90 seems old, etc
Old is also a question of perception. Some people feel and appear old in their 30s. I have also known people in their 70s with more enthusiasm for life than people in their 20s

I believe that an OLD person is someone who hates change, never does anything apart from their daily routine, complains a lot about how nowadays everything is wrong, in the old days that was perfect, can't have an open mind for new opportunities and hates the uncertainty. Are in love with their old ways and criticizes everyone else who is different from them and who doesn't share their point of view.
With that in mind I know a 29 years man who is definitely an Old Man who says phrases like "I can't travel because I'm too old for that, those things are for young people who don't have responsibilities" and my grandfather of 83 years old last year asked me to teach him work on a computer and loves meeting new people, visiting any museum and book fair wherever he goes and is now writing his diary on the Word program.
So you tell me, who is old and who is young? :)

Most of us, at one point or another in our lives, have asked the same question. There's not one person qualified to answer it though as, like many other answers have said, it's a matter of perception. I've got one of those Birthdays that has a '0' in it racing up to meet me in the next couple of weeks but when it arrives I'm going to welcome it because....what other choice is there? All I'm really trying to say is don't worry about what you can't change try embracing it instead, it's easier! Besides, worrying only makes you old before your time (lol)

i think it's when your mind and body start to give up on you. i've known some 60 year olds who would knock spots of most 20 year olds when it comes to energy levels. also as you reach milestone birthdays you begin to think hey this ain't so bad. like when you're 20 you think 40 is old but when you reach 40 (which i have) you think it's not so old but 50 will be. so maybe when i reach 50 i'll think the same thing about being 60.

"Old" is a state of mind. You could be old at 19! I've met many young people who were in their 80's! It really depends on where you are in your life phase, and how you view life. The old saying, "you are as young (or old) as you feel" is very very true!

You're old when you get stuck in a rut.
You're old when you stop trying out for new games.
You're old when what you've done so far seems so much better than what's on offer today.
Me, I'm 17 on the inside still,
...and we have grandmas on neopets!

An old person is someone who is old at heart not necessarily their age, although it does play a major factor.
