Undoubtedly she threw the T-shirt out because it probably looked old and ready to be thrown out without any knowledge of your attachment to it. If she knew that was a special shirt to you, then that exacerbates your upset. If she upon finding out how upset you were, reacted in any way that was not sensitive to your upset, then that exacerbates your upset. My wife threw out a tie I loved because she said she thought it was ugly. I didn't take to that kindly either. I yelled at her with coherent words telling her to throw her own stuff out and leave mine alone. Then I walked away and forgot the episode. My tie was history. So is your T-Shirt. I was an all-American track runner many moons back. One of my teammates constantly wore the same shorts all season long. He claimed that if he washed them, he would lose his luck and his speed would diminish. I was joking, but I picked up those shorts and pretended to pull them apart. He shrieked STOP!!! I was just joking and intended just to scare him and hand the shorts back. However, the shorts were so rotten that they fell into two pieces in my hands. The whole team laughed uproariously as I apologized and my teammate agonized. I have to admit that his season did not go all that well after that. And to make it all worse, it was me he couldn't beat. If he only had those shorts. To the whole world those shorts were stinking, rotten, ready for the garbage heap, sorry excuse for shorts. To him they were his proved lucky charm. Well whether it is a T-shirt, tie or rotten shorts, after they are gone, they are gone. No use making life worse after that.

Did she know how much the shirt meant to you? If she did, then that was totally wrong and she owes you a big time apology and should try to replace it if possible. if she didn't know what it meant to you, then forgive her, she probably thought it was an old rag. Most women don't get men's attachment to their old shirts. It's time for you guys to implement a new system for getting rid of old clothes. Everyone is responsible for their own stuf. I don't throw out any clothes of my husband's that's his job. He gets rid of the old socks, undwear, tshirts, jeans, etc. That way there are no misunderstandings.

Figure out why you are attached to that shirt. There's more to it than what you're saying. Once you figure out what it was about that shirt, let it go. The past is in the past. Live for the moment, it isn't worth being upset over it. Think about it, no one else cares about that shirt & you're the only one being upset about it. You're hurting yourself.
Forgive your wife, at least you have her. What if she wasn't around to complain to?

Are you seriously whining over a 15 year old T-shirt? She is your wife and if you love her, she should be around alot longer. Would you be mad if a fire took away your t-shirt? Get over it! It could be worse, she could have cheated on you.

Thank your wife for me. Some of the shrunken, ragged, faded vestiges of long lost youth that some of you guys wear aren't fit for anything but changing the oil in.
